Who or What is the American Friends of ALYN?
The American Friends of ALYN, www.alynus.org is the non-profit organization, in New York City, which raises money as a 501(c)(3) organization for the ALYN hospital in Jerusalem. Its major fundraiser for ALYN is Wheels of Love.

ALYN Pediatric and Adolescent Rehabilitation Hospital is a spectacular jewel in the middle east. Located on a hilltop near Mount Herzl and the Yad Vashem in Jerusalem, the hospital serves the regions needs in pediatric and adolescent rehabilitation. Most of you know about the Magen David Adom, the ambulance service in Israel. You know that the Haddassah and other hospitals care for the seriously injured, but these are at the acute stages of injury and recovery. The long haul begins with ALYN.

Rehabilitation is ALYN’s raison d’etre.
ALYN is not the hospital the world sees on the news...the holistic rehabilitation done at Alyn is so often forgotten or unrecognized. In times of violence everyone is conscious of the sad need for ambulances and emergency rooms but then what? In the past Alyn has taken care of victims of terror as well as children suffering from neuromuscular disorders or just general but debilitating trauma. Imagine children who spend 30 minutes in an ambulance being transported to a general hospital where they might spend another two hours in an emergency room. In cases when a child is very badly hurt it might mean a few days or a week in a regular hospital room and then the long, intense road to rehabilitation begins; a child could then spend a month or even a year or more at ALYN.
