What is the Wheels of Love?
The Wheels of Love is an annual bike trip of five days held in Israel after the Jewish Holidays. This year 450 intrepid riders will come from within Israel and around the globe, the majority of them from North America, to participate in a ride designed to raise money for ALYN. Each of us who has registered (along with "virtual riders" who do not ride, but do fundraising nonetheless) seek sponsorships from our families, synagogues, friends and colleagues as a means to fund that aspect of the hospital's overhead which is not and cannot be met by the Israeli government.
The ride started in 2000 when nine intrepid riders decided to take the trek by bike from Jerusalem, to Eilat, Israel as a fundraiser for the hospital. Their efforts were unprecedented. Each year the ride has grown, and each year our success means that we can make a difference in the lives of children so desperately needing rehabilitation.

That’s the way WHEELS OF LOVE is…it just continues to grow and every year is more exciting than the one before.This year we will be riding from the North of Israel…starting in Tiberias and cycling south for about 300 miles over five days to a triumphant end in Jerusalem. While it appears on the surface to be a bike ride…it’s really cycling with a purpose. And the purpose is to make a difference in the lives of kids. Thinking about these special kids is what makes it possible to get up another hill….ride a little further. And on that last day when make our last descent and ride down the hill of Shmaryahu Levin St., Kiryat Hayovel to the hospital on Thursday afternoon, November 1st.
There won’t be a dry eye within 100 yards as we reach the front door of the hospital and the ALYN families awaiting us! We’ll be happily exhausted from the ride but energized and deeply moved lifted by the smiling and wondrous faces of the children of ALYN. The excitement of our arrival will make them forget for a little but about their bodies and lives that have been shattered by accidents, surgeries, illness, debilitating neuromuscular diseases and acts of terrorism.
This year the ride needs to raise $3,000,000 and I need your help – again – to help us collectively reach (and hopefully surpass) our goal. The heroic children of ALYN face challenges every minute of every day. I’m determined to exceed my prior successes in fundraising for these special kids. I can’t do it without you.
